About

The Role

New Life Covenant Church S.E. (NLCSE) is seeking a passionate and community‑minded Outreach and Community Development Coordinator to help strengthen our presence and impact in Grand Crossing and the surrounding neighborhoods. Working under the leadership of the Senior Director of Outreach and Community Development, this role is all about organizing and supporting outreach efforts that meet practical needs and share God’s love in tangible ways.

This role ensures that programs and events are well‑coordinated, volunteers are equipped, and relationships within the community are nurtured. The Coordinator serves as a bridge between the church and the surrounding community, ensuring that outreach is impactful, sustainable, and mission‑aligned. The right candidate will be a hands‑on, people‑first team player who thrives in the heart of the community. We’re looking for someone who’s self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and resourceful.

If you’ve got a strong presence, a positive attitude, and a passion for making a real difference, this is the role for you.

Why This Role Matters

This role is the bridge between NLCSE and the community. By building relationships, supporting programs, and responding to real needs, the Coordinator, along with the Senior Director, transforms lives and brings the church’s mission to life—serving neighbors with compassion, presence, and impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the food pantry, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor pantry procedures to maintain consistency, safety, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Track inventory, monitor food expiration dates, and manage food distribution to minimize waste.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for pantry operations.
  • Organize pantry storage areas for safe and easy access.
  • Place orders for supplemental food items as needed to meet client demand.
  • Maintain relationships with donors, community organizations, and local businesses to support food pantry needs.
  • Prepare reports on pantry activity, inventory, and outcomes for leadership.
  • Plan, manage, and attend outreach events, workshops, and other opportunities that connect with neighbors.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers who are ready to serve.
  • Assist with budgets, track impact, and report on results so we can keep improving.
  • Create a welcoming and caring environment for everyone who interacts with our Outreach Office, answering phone calls and emails with kindness, offering assistance, and greeting each visitor warmly.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure individuals receive the care, resources, and support they need through the church office and community partnerships.
  • Assist the Senior Director with event planning, outreach management, and behind‑the‑scenes needs.
  • Act as a connector: listen to community voices and let their feedback shape our programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, partnerships, and community engagement.
  • Support peers and other staff as needed to keep daily operations running smoothly.
  • Stay flexible: jump in wherever needed to keep outreach efforts strong and effective.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Social Work, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or program coordination, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse populations and community stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
