Position Overview

We are seeking a high-energy, results-oriented Media Relations Manager to lead our media relations team and drive proactive pitching efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for both managing the team and personally engaging with media outlets—getting on the phone, delivering compelling pitches, and securing high-impact media placements. You should be a persuasive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands how to translate client stories into media opportunities.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and mentor a team of media relations specialists, providing clear direction and ongoing training in pitching and relationship management.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive media strategies that align with client objectives and our overall business vision.
Active Pitching & Relationship Building
  • Personally engage with media outlets via phone and email to pitch client stories and secure media coverage.
  • Drive daily media outreach efforts, ensuring consistent and proactive communication with reporters, editors, and influencers.
Campaign Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of media relations campaigns, from initial pitch through secured placement and post-campaign analysis.
  • Collaborate with the content and client success teams to ensure that pitches and media strategies are aligned with client messaging and objectives.
Performance & Metrics
  • Track and report on key performance metrics, including call volume, pitch success rate, and media placements secured.
  • Continuously optimize media relations tactics based on data insights and market trends.
Client Engagement
  • Act as a key liaison for clients regarding media relations strategy, providing regular updates and insights.
  • Present campaign results and recommendations to clients, ensuring they understand the value and impact of media placements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in media relations, public relations, or a related field, with a strong track record of successful pitching and securing media coverage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling pitches and build relationships over the phone and in person.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Deep understanding of media landscapes, journalist needs, and best practices in media outreach.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using CRM or PR analytics tools to measure performance and drive strategy.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in franchising or a related industry is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to attend industry events and client meetings.
Compensation & Incentives

Competitive base salary in the range of $70,000–$90,000 annually (dependent on experience)
