Field Service Technician – Mechanical Focus Food Processing Equipment

Love working with your hands? Enjoy tearing down machines, fixing what’s broken, and seeing the results right away?

Join Biro of Chicago Inc., a leader in food‑processing equipment for 40+ years.

We’re looking for a mechanically driven Field Service Technician to repair and maintain equipment like meat saws, grinders, mixer‑grinders, dicers, slicers, skinners, and horizontal slicers
. If you’re mechanically inclined and enjoy solving problems, you’ll fit right in.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll work directly with retail scales, packaging systems, and food processing equipment—keeping grocery stores, processors, and retailers up and running. Every day brings something different, and your technical skill will make an immediate impact.

We back our team with one of the strongest benefits packages in the industry:
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance — 100% company-paid.
  • 401(k) with a 50% company match.
  • PTO.
  • Company Vehicle.
  • A stable, long‑standing company that invests in its technicians.
What You’ll Do:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electromechanical food‑processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Read mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams.
  • Support customers onsite and in‑house.
  • Maintain your company vehicle, tools, and parts.
  • Travel locally with occasional overnight trips (2-5%).
What You Bring:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude — you like tools, machines, and hands‑on work.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn new equipment and repair procedures.
  • Solid communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in varied environments (cold, hot, wet, noisy).
Preferred but not required:
  • 2–4 years mechanical/electrical experience.
  • Food equipment service experience.
  • Basic computer or networking knowledge.
Why You’ll Love This Job:
  • Every day is different — new equipment, new challenges.
  • You get to work independently and own your craft.
  • Full training provided.
  • You become the expert customers rely on.
  • Strong company culture built on integrity, confidence, and respect.
