CED strives to pay a competitive wage in the industry and regional market. The pay range for this position is $20-$26.50 per hour. Our strong benefits offerings include eligibility to participate in 1 of 3 different BCBS of IL medical plans, Dental (Sun Life) Vision (Eye Med), Life and Disability Insurance, 401(k) with a generous 6% match, 11 Paid Holidays, 5 paid Sick Days (based on a full year of employment) and paid vacation.
Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Work is generally performed under the guidance and instruction of experienced maintenance mechanics and technicians. Work is performed according to safety, planned maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Assist experienced technician with diversified duties to install and maintain production machines, and the company’s physical plant, grounds and equipment.
- Assist experienced technician with emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Under direct supervision, performs basic mechanic assignments including, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines and facility equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Learn to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Learn regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Under direct supervision, performs a variety of basic plumbing and electrical maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Act as escort to external visitors and vendors following established facility security protocols.
- Comply with safety regulations and perform work in a manner consistent with rigorous company safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work spaces, tools, and equipment.

Education- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- Associate degree or technical school training preferred.
- One to two years of experience working within a manufacturing or other industrial environment.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving history
- Ability to follow instructions and learn troubleshooting and maintenance skills from experienced peers
- Ability to perform assigned work on multiple and concurrent tasks/projects
- Able to perform duties in various physical environments and conditions (e.g., indoors, outdoors, hot/cold areas, heights, confined spaces)
- Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.
