The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $43,400-$54,300. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
The Mechanical Quality Technologist is responsible for inspecting and testing mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and parts within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that mechanical components meet quality standards by conducting thorough inspections and tests according to established procedures. The role involves interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and test results, and documenting inspection results. The position requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of quality inspection methods, and the ability to operate mechanical testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inspections of mechanical subassemblies, final assemblies, and other mechanical fixtures to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Verify that mechanical components are assembled correctly and that tolerances meet established criteria.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation to ensure compliance with design and production standards.
- Record and document inspection results, identifying non-conforming products and initiating corrective action as required.
- Utilize, maintain, and calibrate mechanical testing equipment testing equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and suggest improvements to processes.
- Assist in developing and improving testing procedures and protocols based on findings and feedback.
- Understand and follow ISO 9001 standards and ensure compliance in daily work.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs and reports for review by supervisors.
- Assist in maintaining the safety of the work area by following relevant safety guidelines for handling mechanical components and equipment.
- Continuously develop skills related to mechanical testing and inspection techniques, with a focus on pursuing relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ, ASME).
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
- Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma.
- 3+ years of hands‑on manufacturing experience, such as assembly.
- Sound understanding of mechanical systems. Able to complete troubleshooting tasks to identify issues within these systems.
- Ability to understand part drawings, Bills of Material, Sales Orders, & Technical Documents.
- Good understanding of ISO 9001.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment on a product floor and open to learning new concepts of mechanical/product testing.
