Maintenance Supervisor – 3rd Shift
We’re working with a major food manufacturer in North America that’s seeking 3rd Shift Maintenance supervisors. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to be a key stakeholder in the launch of a state‑of‑the‑art facility, contributing to the optimization of a major food production network in North America. This role will lead a team of maintenance professionals in a 24/7 operation, ensuring seamless production support and efficient delivery of maintenance services.
The role will involve overseeing work assignments, managing employee performance, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and all relevant laws. This is an essential position for someone ready to make a significant impact in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
US $80,000.00/yr – US $95,000.00/yr
Job Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Manager, and facility management to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Supervise both the maintenance and capital projects for the site.
- Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Ensure that all utilities (i.e., refrigeration, electrical, steam, compressed air systems, etc.) are in proper working order to support production.
- Implement corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators to create overall equipment effectiveness.
- Remain current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
- Ensure corporate policies and standards are followed in both capital project implementation as well as daily maintenance.
- Complete all paperwork including maintenance records, incident reports & investigations, and others as assigned by the maintenance manager. Maintain current technical documentation on Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), instrumentation, and equipment (PLC ladder logic, blueprints, manuals, SOPs, maintenance procedures, PM program), inventory/parts purchasing.
- Share “best practices” within the Maintenance Department.
- Monitor and enforce policies, plant rules and programs with employees, contractors, vendors, consultants, and suppliers (i.e., safety, food safety, regulatory, etc.).
- Engage in typical managerial responsibilities requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
- Provide management of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, and performance management.
- Evaluate maintenance personnel skills and assist in training program development.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience in Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage manufacturing or equivalent education/experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, PLCs, electrical, cooling towers, ammonia compressors and packaging equipment; electronics, instrumentation, electrical systems troubleshooting, reading electrical schematics, ladder logic.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices in the food industry.
- Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to follow Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, report and address deficiencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance planning software; SAP/ERP experience a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and lead others through change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; organized and detail‑oriented.
- Strong team player and leader, capable of working across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Ability to select, coach, motivate, develop and retain a team.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
- Understanding of cost containment and budgetary principles.
- Flexibility to work weekends and varying shift times to support plant operations.
- Work in manufacturing environment with noise, temperature extremes, physical movement, and frequent lifting up to 40 lbs.
