- Repairs, installs, and inspects electronics or electronic systems as directed through verbal or written directions, diagrams, drawings, or specifications.
- Maintains and makes necessary operating adjustments to the organization’s electronic systems.
- Determines material or replacement needs and a logical method for repair; takes appropriate action to meet those needs and makes repairs.
- Ensures local, state, and national electrical codes are followed and proper materials are used throughout electrical systems.
- Manages and installs cables and wiring, splicing as needed.
- Creates or adapts parts as needed to make repairs and improve the performance of various electronics.
- Performs safety checks to ensure design plans are feasible in various conditions.
- Reports potentially dangerous electrical equipment to supervisor and takes steps to resolve the issue.
- Instruct employees regarding safe working procedures and requirements when working with electronic equipment and components.
- Develops and maintains records related to electronic and electrical equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Associates degree in Electronics or Electronic Technician certification required or comparable electronics training.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience is preferred.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience in electrical assembly/installations, proper wiring practices, and electrical test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, oscilloscope, insulation tester).
- Basic knowledge of:
- Control systems
- Wire Harnesses and Cable Assemblies
- Three-phase systems
- Generators/alternators
- Motors and motor control (across-the-line, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and inverters)
- Digital display systems
- Pinouts of electrical connectors/components
- Instrumentation
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
- Communication protocols and networks (CANbus, Ethernet)
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits; current, resistance, voltage.
- Circuit troubleshooting experience (analog and digital).
- AC and DC circuit familiarity.
- Safety protocols when handling electrical circuits and components.
- Thru hole and surface mount PCB soldering/desoldering experience.
- Proficiency with VOM/DMM and oscilloscope operation.
- Thorough understanding of electronics principles and design.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Ability to follow highly complex directions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PLC operation and troubleshooting knowledge (hardware and software).
- Electric motor installation and troubleshooting experience.
- VFD operation and troubleshooting experience.
- DAQ system experience.
- CAD drawing experience.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic circuits; flow, restriction, pressure.
- Reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, kneel and stoop frequently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to follow all safety requirements.
- Ability to work with both arms extended for an extended period.
- Ability to climb step ladders, work platforms frequently.
- Ability to drive a forklift and be certified to the company’s program.
