Job Summary

The Transportation Brokerage Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operational activities within the brokerage department to ensure efficient, compliant, and service driven execution of customer freight. This role provides direct supervision to operations staff, ensures adherence to established processes, and supports organizational goals related to service performance, cost management, and productivity. The Supervisor serves as a key point of escalation and collaborates closely with internal teams, carriers, and customers.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervise day‑to‑day brokerage operations including load entry, scheduling, tracking, updates, and exception management.
  • Ensure timely execution of pickup and delivery activities while maintaining service quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Monitor work queues, shipment progress, and workload distribution to support efficient operational flow.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to assigned staff.
  • Conduct onboarding, training, and ongoing development to ensure team members understand policies, procedures, and system requirements.
  • Participate in performance evaluations, staffing decisions, and corrective action processes as required.
  • Customer & Carrier Coordination
  • Act as an escalation point for service failures, accessorial issues, urgent customer requests, and carrier challenges.
  • Partner with customer service, sales, and carrier procurement teams to resolve operational issues and maintain strong relationships.
  • Ensure professional, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process & Compliance Management
  • Ensure operational processes align with company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall service quality.
  • Maintain compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations, internal policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Data, Reporting, & KPI Management
  • Monitor operational metrics such as on‑time performance, tender acceptance, service failures, and cost‑to‑serve.
  • Utilize TMS and related systems to maintain data accuracy and operational visibility.
  • Provide department leadership with regular updates regarding performance trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
