The Manager of Pricing plays a key leadership role in supporting and advancing the firm’s pricing strategy and financial performance. This position is responsible for developing, analyzing, and monitoring pricing arrangements while driving process improvements that enhance efficiency and client service. Working closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and cross-functional departments, the Manager of Pricing balances strong analytical capabilities with exceptional communication skills.
This individual will lead and mentor a pricing team, provide strategic financial guidance on client engagements, and contribute to the firm’s competitive positioning through innovative and data-driven pricing solutions.
- Develop financial models to evaluate the impact of pricing proposals and create innovative pricing solutions aligned with client needs
- Partner with attorneys and marketing professionals to respond to RFPs and ad hoc client requests
- Design and enhance tools and processes that leverage historical matter and client data to support firm leadership and practice groups
- Serve as a key financial resource for select clients requiring ongoing matter management and financial oversight
- Support the development and implementation of internal and external pricing tools
- Improve tools and processes related to engagement scoping, budgeting, and reporting
- Manage standard billing rates for all timekeepers, including oversight of the annual rate review process
- Monitor, analyze, and report on complex and alternative fee arrangements
- Build and maintain strong relationships across departments, including Business Intelligence, Marketing, and Accounting
- Stay informed on industry trends, tools, and best practices related to legal pricing and engagement strategies
- Lead, supervise, and develop pricing team members, including reviewing work, providing training, and mentoring staff
- Establish and uphold high service standards within the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives effectively
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Power Point
- Prior experience in a legal pricing function, ideally within a large law firm
- Experience with tools such as SharePoint, 3E, Net Documents, data visualization software, and SQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Sound business judgment and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships across functions
- Capacity to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Commitment to delivering high-quality service both individually and through team leadership
