Director, Executive Operations

Job Summary

This role supports the CEO and Advancement by aligning priorities, enabling informed decision-making, and driving effective execution across the organization.

Role-Specific Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Vice President -- Advancement Operations to identify priorities, align on goals, and drive execution on key executive initiatives. Prepare briefings, analyses, and recommendations to support informed decisions.
  • Coordinate enterprise-level initiatives that span multiple departments or verticals. Track progress on key initiatives, identify risks, and elevate issues as needed to maintain momentum.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across and among all members of the Executive Operations team and all direct reports of the CEO, including P/COO and Vice Presidents for Advancement Operations, Institutional Advancement, and Client and Community Impact.
  • Establish, oversee, and continuously strengthen critical operating processes, including board governance, preparation and coordination of board and committee materials, leadership forums, and annual planning cycles. Translate executive direction into clear action plans, timelines, and accountability structures. Serve as a central point of accountability to ensure alignment and follow-through on enterprise-level priorities and cross-functional initiatives. Monitor performance against goals and support corrective action where necessary.
  • Provide strategic judgement in prioritizing issues, identifying organizational risks and opportunities, and advising senior leadership to ensure operational integrity and institutional continuity. Act with delegated authority on defined matters to ensure timely execution and continuity of executive operations.
  • Directly supervise and provide performance management, coaching, and development for Executive Assistant(s) supporting the Office of the CEO, ensuring effective prioritization, workflow management, and operational excellence.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters on behalf of CEO with discretion and sound judgment. Assess inquiries and issues, determine appropriate responses or referrals, and elevate matters as needed. Represent the Office of CEO with poise and integrity in all interactions.

Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • 7+ years relevant experience
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience with Project Management, calendar management, travel coordination, meeting logistics
  • Executive-level discretion in relation to confidentiality and communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience supporting board governance processes and executive-level event planning and coordination
  • Experience working for a non-profit organization
