Senior Project Manager – Transit Services

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Transit Services to join our multi‑disciplinary and action‑oriented transportation team in Illinois. This position will support the growing transit practice focused on bus, rail, and transit infrastructure (facilities) projects.

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll focus on bus, rail and facilities projects in the greater IL for major transit clients such as CTA, Metra, or PACE. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate and manage multi‑disciplinary teams on multiple assignments is required.

• Serve as senior project manager, deputy project manager, and major task lead, collaborating with professionals on complex bus, rail and/or facilities design projects.
• Work with current staff to enhance our transit services capabilities.
• Mentor staff and help expand our transit design practice in the greater IL market.
• Lead the development of project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitor and control project performance.
• Perform quality control/assurance of key deliverables related to transportation projects managed by others.
• Implement CDM Smith’s quality procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with marketing and business development efforts to expand our client base and project opportunities with Pennsylvania regional transportation agencies.

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of related experience; PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required, depending on duties.

• Previous experience managing transit projects for CTA, Metra, or PACE.
• Experience assisting with the proposal process and presenting/meeting with transportation clients.
• Strong experience meeting and working with Illinois agencies, cities, and municipalities.
