Assistant Vice President of Store Operations needed for Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and Guadalupe Valley, a large non-profit, single family home builder and social service provider who owns and operates 3 home improvement stores that sell donated and purchased home improvement products to the public at significantly discounted prices. We are seeking a results-oriented candidate with excellent skills for this important position.

Position

duties include:
  • Implement HFHSA’s policies, procedures, and operating strategies while overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of HFHSA’s 3 retail stores.
  • Direct supervision of management level staff as indicated in the organizational chart and indirect supervision of subordinates below that.
  • Ensure consistency in personnel management.
  • Identify areas needing improvement within each store and update business plans and implementation strategies to facilitate needed improvements.
  • Monitor store performance and activities and ensure they relate to the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Draft store operation policies and procedures and, if adopted, oversee their implementation.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and/or troubleshoot building and facility maintenance for 3 facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned and yet to be determined.
Strong Retail Management Qualifications including:
  • Minimum of 5 years of personnel management including hiring, firing, appropriate and timely counseling, conducting timely performance appraisals, training and developing successful training plans for both direct reports and indirect reports for retail employees. It must include implementation and oversight of personnel and operating policies for many employees.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with inventory counts and inventory processes.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a retail store manager with a history of rising through the ranks in retail operations.
  • Goal and team oriented, a positive attitude with a good sense of humor, and great people skills. Must be able to balance a broad, organization-wide view along with narrow, store-specific perspectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
  • Great organizational skills with proficiency in producing and facilitating timely paperwork, adherence to policies and procedures, and managing expenses and activities within budget, along with experience overseeing the same in others.
  • Proficient computer skills with independent operation and utilization of Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of POS systems required.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task to meet deadlines without supervision and set achievable deadlines for others.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening, must have and maintain a Texas drivers’ license and a good driving record.
