This role can be located in either our Washignton DC or Chicago IL office.

Position Summary

NAR is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Director of Engagement, Commercial Real Estate to grow and enhance the organization’s programs, services, and relationships in the commercial real estate space, thereby increasing member satisfaction in the value of membership. This leadership role will oversee strategy and execution of programs and services, support events and outreach, and support commercial governance operations.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Serve as a direct conduit to enhancing association services and member satisfaction.
  • Proactively encourage the development of new commercial member organizations and foster existing structures of residential boards or separate commercial boards.
  • Develop strategy that keeps association and member programs valuable and viable.
  • Implement outreach initiatives developed to strengthen associations such as initiating regional seminars, making high-level field visits to conduct presentations, relationship management, consensus building.
  • Hold webinars for association staff to share best practices.
  • Collaborate with team on ways to enhance existing or build new relationships between NAR and state and local REALTOR® associations.
  • Proactively communicate with state and local associations to provide tools, resources, and talking points for their members.
  • Execute on team strategy to connect with association executives on issues they are facing or concerns they may have.
  • Direct and/or develop tailored programs for member associations, and benchmark and monitor success. Example programs include but not limited to:
  • Events at AE Institute, Leadership Summit and NAR National Meetings
  • Education, training, and webinars targeting commercial members
  • Develop and draft commercial brand outreach strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on comprehensive approach to commercial real estate industry engagement.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to ensure messaging and collateral is clear and unified, and aligned with overall NAR brand.
  • Use industry knowledge to provide support on content strategy of direct communication to members identified as commercial.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners.
  • Create and execute strategy to incorporate large commercial brokerages.
  • Direct and manage commercial real estate industry trade show sponsor ships to promote NAR’s national commercial brand in support of local and state association efforts and offerings.
  • Develop and draft strategy for strategic placement of NAR commercial branding in industry publications and other media
  • Serve as important national connection to members and commercial leadership as subject matter expert and support of governance matters.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key staff (leg/reg; research; property management) to ensure committees are apprised of commercial issues across other relevant committees.
  • Lead work groups on initiatives to enhance association services and support.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial real estate experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Demonstrated skill in creating and executing strategy to build engagement and value of programs and services
  • Experience in change management and implementing new programs and services
  • Experience with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management abilities; able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to develop and interpret KPIs and health metrics to assess performance and engagement
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working in association management or non-profit organizations is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Compensation: $140,000-$160,000, depending on office location

NAR is on a hybrid schedule and in the office 3 days a week.
