Overview
The Benefits Eligibility Support Manager is a member of the Access Team responsible for leading agency wide benefits navigation processes (Medicaid and SNAP). The role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of workflows, tools, and guidance that ensure clarity and consistency across JCFS Chicago programs. This position provides direct client support and coordinates with programs to align benefits-related practices. The program manager may also train and supervise staff performing benefits support.
This role combines program development and direct client support to create consistent benefits practices and prevent service disruptions.
Skills And Abilities
- Program Development and Coordination
- Lead the creation, implementation, and maintenance of Medicaid and SNAP workflows, decision pathways, and documentation standards.
- Establish agency wide expectations for how benefits support is completed and support programs in following procedures.
- Interpret policy changes and determine required updates to tools, guidance, and training materials.
- Identify gaps, trends, and outcomes to recommend program improvements.
- Client and Agency Support
- Assist clients with applications, renewals, and problem resolution for public benefits.
- Serve as an internal resource and subject matter expert to staff on Medicaid/SNAP related questions.
- Additional Duties
- Represent JCFS in benefits-related meetings and collaborative initiatives.
- Maintain active partnerships with community agencies to stay current on system changes and contribute to coordinated regional efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Customer service-oriented attitude in serving internal employees, external clients and community.
- Able to prioritize, work independently and take initiative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn internal databases.
- Organized, reliable, and detail oriented.
- Comfortable collaborating with multiple departments.
- Experience with public benefits (Medicaid/SNAP) strongly preferred.
- Experience in social services or healthcare is preferred.

Union - Compensation:
The starting compensation for this position is between $60,000-$65,000 based on experience. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship*.
