Director of Electrical Distribution Utilities
The Director of Electrical Distribution will lead and manage a team responsible for above- and below-ground utility distribution projects (4kV34kV). This role oversees technical and operational performance, ensures quality, mentors staff, and manages client relationships, while contributing to business development and complex project delivery.
Who You AreBachelors degree in electrical engineering; PE license required. MBA, PMP, or MSEE preferred.
20+ years of experience in utility distribution engineering, including above- and below-ground systems.
Proven leadership and group management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
Strong project management skills, including budget oversight, scheduling, and client coordination.
Experience with complex utility projects, such as reliability upgrades, capacity expansion, network centers, and facility relocations.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Skilled in staff development, team building, and proposal preparation.
What Youll DoLead and manage the distribution engineering group, assigning staff to projects and monitoring progress to ensure quality and performance.
Mentor and develop technical and soft skills within the team.
Manage group billability, productivity, and project budgets.
Lead and contribute to complex proposals and signature projects for key clients.
Perform independent reviews of work and ensure adherence to standards and client expectations.
Maintain and enhance client trust by following and improving management systems and processes.
Promote a culture of learning and growth, sharing engineering best practices and knowledge with the team.
Collaborate across disciplines while enjoying a positive, engaging work environment.
