Overview

GFT Infrastructure is currently seeking a National Alternative Project Delivery (APD) Leader who will be responsible for managing the overall execution and procurement processes of all alternative projects in the GFT portfolio. This position crosses all business lines within GFT, including transportation, water, power, construction services (including EPC) and buildings and places. The option exists to work fully remote from any of our GFT US locations.

What

You Will Do

The National APD leader will coordinate with the GFT business line leaders in the successful implementation of design-build projects, progressive design build projects, integrated project delivery, construction management-at-risk, private-public partnerships, and EPC (engineer-procure-construction). The successful candidate will be expected to be knowledgeable in all these delivery methods, with hands-on experience in several of these delivery methods. The National APD Delivery will also manage the corporate APD Risk portfolio, and work with GFT legal and insurance to guide executive management on the corporate risk generated by APD projects across all business lines.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of design on large complex alternative delivery projects nationally.
  • Maintain diverse relationships with the Contractor, Owner Representatives, and project stakeholders and influencers.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline design staff from multiple business lines in a high-intensity environment, often involving multi-office execution.
  • Work directly with project controls and scheduling staff to manage the project, analyze Earned Value and Schedule performance, and ensure project goals are accomplished within time and funding parameters.
  • Oversee quality and coordination of APD work, client interface, staff utilization, contract management, billing, and project profitability.
  • Participate in interviews and presentations to support the APD practice nationally.
  • Hold weekly APD Risk committee meetings with senior management to assess prospective projects; coordinate legal reviews and obtain “Go/No Go” approvals through stage-gate processes.
  • Serve as a GFT executive representative at client meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews related to APD projects.
  • Develop and confirm financial and project delivery schedule activities for design and construction across involved disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and enforce cost controls to implement approved designs within budget.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of project assignments, handling larger and more complex projects; collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, other consultants, and professional organizations.
  • Attend national design-build and APD conferences representing GFT; maintain contractor relationships and coordinate teaming with contractors and fellow consultants on major pursuits.
  • Collaborate with GFT Client Service Leaders and market leaders to maintain critical client relationships; assist the Chief Growth Officer with client management.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (minimum).
  • Financial and risk management acumen demonstrated in prior career experience.
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in complex multi-discipline highway project design management, including one or more Design-Build and/or PPP projects as Design Manager for multi-discipline projects.
  • Experience in risk management analysis and techniques, including Monte Carlo analysis (desirable).
What We Prefer You Bring
