New Life Covenant Church S.E. (NLCSE) is seeking a proactive and hands‑on Facilities Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of our buildings within our campus. As the evening Facility Supervisor, you play a key role in supporting the life and ministry of our church during evening hours. You’ll oversee the building’s safety, cleanliness, and functionality while serving as the main point of contact for staff, guests, and community members using the space.
This position requires strong people skills, calm problem‑solving, and the ability to manage a dynamic environment – from prayer groups to busy community events. You’ll ensure the church remains a welcoming, secure, and well‑run space that reflects our mission in the heart of the city.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a general knowledge of facility systems, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑maintained work environment. The NLCSE Facilities Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and operations run smoothly, while also managing a team of custodian staff.

What You’ll Do- Supervise and train a team of custodial staff.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
- Create work schedules, delegate work assignments, approve payroll, and evaluate work performances.
- Supervise daily facility operations, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Monitor the safe use of and storage of chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
- Identify, evaluate, and document the need for building and equipment repairs, making repairs or supervising them as appropriate.
- Order supplies, maintain records, and employ vendors when necessary.
- Make or coordinate emergency repairs.
- Make necessary purchases cost‑effectively. Obtain price comparisons where possible.
- Monitor equipment and systems to ensure preventive maintenance is completed as scheduled.
- Monitor the performance of vendors to ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Address discrepancies directly. Escalate as required.
- Perform basic security functions such as responding to alarms, providing access to facilities, and securing facilities.
- Participate in the hiring process and assist in making selection recommendations. Demonstrate knowledge of and support the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of NLCSE.

- Ability to operate tools (manual and power) safely and effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to sustain effective working relationships.
- Must be familiar with the use of hand tools and various power tools and equipment and operate per safety regulations.
- Knowledge of general maintenance equipment and repair functions.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills, organizational and multitasking.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in facility management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communicator and listener.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability.
- 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience in maintenance functions.
- 2 years of experience in commercial property maintenance.
