About This Role

Axsome Therapeutics is currently searching for a Regional Business Director (RBD) to lead commercial activities for an assigned geography, establish a team of Account Managers, execute marketing strategies, and ensure a successful launch. The RBD will oversee a highly sophisticated digital infrastructure, supervise sales representatives aligned to geographical boundaries, and drive sales performance at the region level. This cross‑functional front‑line leader role will promote AUVELITY for major depressive disorder in adults and potential future indications.

Field‑based with travel as needed.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Supervise operations of the region: drive results, hire and coach, develop account managers, manage performance, and assign key priority accounts.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, balancing live/virtual interactions and prioritizing team efforts.
  • Plan, organize, and drive performance to achieve the region’s business potential through coaching and influence.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication among all region members and cross‑channel stakeholders.
  • Maintain technical expertise to respond accurately to product, marketing, policy, and business questions.
  • Work with direct reports to understand and execute established expectations.
  • Help account managers improve selling skills, product knowledge, and capabilities through coaching and counsel.
  • Plan and conduct actions and meetings with region and Market Access teams.
  • Manage region business plan, budget, and P&L in alignment with regional and national expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and processes.
  • Travel overnight as required.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • BA or BS required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of field leadership and/or payer account management experience, or demonstrated sales success with increasing responsibility and organizational leadership.
  • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience preferred, with at least 3–5 years in a first‑line leadership position.
  • Proven performance history leading others to success through coaching influence.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding results and develop others to their potential.
  • Track record in attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Current or recent psychiatry disease experience strongly preferred.
  • Successful launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to strategize within teams using differential resources to reach business goals.
  • Proven ability to run multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Must reside within the territory’s geography.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and high expectations.
  • Patient support services experience a plus.
  • Strong digital marketing aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Salary & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $165,000 - $205,000. Axsome offers a competitive employment package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity, and a generous benefits package.
