As a Supervisor in Volunteer Engagement, you will play a key role in connecting communities, training volunteers, and ensuring the organization’s mission of saving lives and promoting safety is carried out effectively.

Job Description

In this remote‑based position, staff must work in the Eastern and/or Central Time Zones and cover regional areas of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. You will supervise the region’s staff and manage operational needs, including retention, training, scheduling and budget oversight. You’ll implement cost‑efficient methods to engage volunteers, coordinate training requirements, and serve as a liaison with Humanitarian Services, National Headquarters and external volunteer organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise day‑to‑day operations of the department, including volunteer and paid staff; oversee hiring, training, coaching, evaluation, and performance management to build a qualified team.
  • Identify and implement creative strategies and methods to engage a sufficient pool of volunteer staff to maintain efficient operations and meet goals.
  • Coordinate and implement training and communications to keep volunteers properly trained in compliance with organizational directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of effective recognition programs, social events and communication avenues to sustain a stable volunteer pool.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of the department’s budget, goals and objectives.
  • Qualifications
    • Education:

      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
    • Experience:

      Minimum three years of relevant work experience.
    • Management

      Experience:

      Minimum of one year supervising staff or volunteers.
    • Skills:

      Excellent oral and written communication, training and presentation skills; computer proficiency; strong professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential matters; teamwork, group dynamics, negotiation, and program implementation skills.
    Salary

    The salary range for this position is $66,000.00 – $68,000.00 annually. Salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors, such as skills and experience, may influence the actual salary.
