The Resident Director is a full-time, on-site role at Loyola University Chicago, located in Chicago, IL. This position is responsible for managing residential communities, creating a supportive living environment, and promoting a sense of belonging among resident students. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, supervising resident assistants, implementing developmental programming, addressing student needs, and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
The Resident Director will actively contribute to the university’s mission by fostering an inclusive and engaging residential experience for students.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in community development, student engagement, and program planning.
- Ability to provide support and guidance, as well as manage crisis response and ensure student safety.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with community engagement and sensitivity to diversity and inclusion.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in residence life, housing, or student affairs is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends as required.
