Learning & Development Manager – Chicago Office

This hybrid position offers work‑from‑home flexibility. You will support the firm’s First‑Year Associate Program and New Partner Programs to help attorneys reach their professional goals.

Position Summary

We’re looking for someone who thrives on all facets of professional learning and development, enjoys advising career development, and delivering professional and legal skills training. Experience in law firms, corporate, or academic environments is preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Partners with PD team members, practice group leaders, training partners, and attorneys to assess training needs and develop/complement curricula aligned with professional and legal skill matrices and firm objectives.
  • Provides individual advising and support to attorneys on skills assessments and career advancement plans.
  • Supports attorney performance evaluation processes, including summarizing evaluations, writing reports, and following up.
  • Leads the annual planning and implementation of Benesch

    CORE professional skills training programs.
  • Assists with the annual First‑Year Associate Programs, leading training sessions and serving as integration manager for new lawyers.
  • Maintains and updates the Benesch Learning & CLE Center, reviews modules, designs new on‑demand content, runs and analyzes reports, and promotes engagement.
  • Provides administrative and logistical support to training programming, including calendaring, collecting presenter
    154 forth, attending monitoring , managing technology coordination, and assisting with catering or room reservations.
  • Manages relationships with external training providers, consultants, and software vendors to ensure quality programming.
  • Evaluates training program effectiveness through feedback collection and analysis.
  • Monitors industry trends and identifies new opportunities for attorney development.
  • Additional Responsibilities

    Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Talent Officer and the Director of Professional Development.

    Qualifications

    A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and commensurate experience. Minimum five years of experience in training and professional development, preferably in a law firm, corporate, or academic environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Aderant vi Desktop, or another learning management system. Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects, realign priorities, and work autonomously. A client‑service mindset focused on building collaborative relationships with attorneys and firm leadership.

    Salary Range: $125,000 –$156,000. Base pay is based on location and may vary. Full‑time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
