About The Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on, reliable Maintenance Technician to help keep our YOS properties clean, safe, and functioning smoothly. You’ll work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor to handle day‑to‑day maintenance tasks, repairs, and safety checks.
Location: Chicago, IL
Job Type: Full‑time
Hourly Rate: $18 to $21 per hour.
What You’ll Do- Perform basic manual labor, including:
- Trash removal
- Restocking, cleaning, and bathroom supplies
- Light landscaping
- Basic furniture repairs
- Complete monthly safety inspections at our outpost offices
- Deliver internal mail twice a week to various locations
- Support emergency maintenance requests when needed (on‑call support)
- Work safely and monitor any contractor work on our properties
- Assist with special projects and other maintenance duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- Some experience in maintenance or general labor preferred
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including in wet or humid conditions
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and general maintenance tools
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Comfortable working around diverse teams and communities.
- This role involves physical work: standing, lifting, bending, and working in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to work near machinery and handle tools safely.
- May occasionally work in high places or around fumes/dust.
