Facilities Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Supervisor to oversee a team of 2-3 Groundskeepers. The role involves managing and maintaining building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, cleaning, and groundskeeping. The supervisor will oversee both routine and preventative maintenance, manage repairs and renovations, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and develop long‑term strategies for facility maintenance, upgrades, and improvements.

Additionally, this role includes supervising facility staff, including maintenance personnel, custodial staff, and security personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Cut grass on the grounds of the Illinois International Port.
  • Implement weed control measures on the grounds.
  • Shovel sidewalks for snow removal.
  • Perform simple oil changes on golf carts, lawn mowers, and gator carts.
  • Fix odds and ends around the maintenance shop, including repairing cabinet handles and performing simple paint jobs.
  • Organize the garage and maintain its functionality.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in performing simple oil changes.
  • 5+ years of experience with hand and power tools, facilities maintenance.
  • Proficient in project management, HVAC, electrical, facilities maintenance, plumbing, and painting.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in grass cutting and weed control.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Nice to have: experience with ride‑on lawn mowers and oil changes.
Work Environment

This position primarily involves outdoor work, ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the facility grounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $40.86/hr.
