New City Property Management is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, demanding strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be a vital part of maintaining the highest level of operational excellence across our properties, ensuring all repairs and requests are handled reliably, timely, and safely, and in accordance with all operating and safety standards.
The Maintenance Technician will manage day-to-day maintenance operations, focusing on the timely and effective resolution of all property needs:
- Perform general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs consistent with company safety standards.
- Execute equipment maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
- Respond promptly to work orders, ensuring successful repairs and high resident satisfaction with follow up.
- Conduct routine inspections of community grounds and buildings to ensure safety compliance and proactively identify potential maintenance issues.
- Deliver excellent customer service by responding to resident requests in a timely manner.
- Promote and adhere to safe work practices among the on-site team.
- Ensure full compliance with all Federal, State, and local housing laws.
- Maintain effective verbal and written communication with tenants, vendors, and upper management.
A successful candidate will possess the following:
- 2-3 years of proven multi‑family or related facilities maintenance experience is required.
- Must have 2-3 years of experience with plumbing and boiler systems.
- Relevant certifications or vocational training in the maintenance field are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage a workload effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with basic hand and power tools.
- Proven ability to work independently at times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills (Bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet to manage and complete work orders.
- Reliable transportation is essential;
Must own a car. - Ability to work on call during off hours for emergencies.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs or more.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb to complete daily tasks.
- Must be able to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.
- May be required to work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Occasional weekend or evening work may be required for on‑call emergencies.
