Field Service Technician - Chicago, IL Mobility Customer Service

Siemens Mobility is seeking to fill a new Field Service Technician position in Chicago, IL to assist in the coordination and implementation of all phases of the service and maintenance activities of our SIEMENS CHARGER locomotives. You will also be responsible for assisting in various maintenance activities with our customers, training their maintenance personnel, and advising on the best maintenance techniques.

Shift

& Working Hours

This position will work a first or third shift (6am – 2pm or 10pm to 6am). The job includes a weekend day that is part of a 5‑day work week. Shift hours can change based on customer schedule and maintenance needs.

What your day‑to‑day will look like:
  • Provide positive customer service experience by establishing a rapport with Customer management and maintenance facility personnel.
  • Ensure the provision of high‑quality technical advice to the customer's maintenance workforce to improve the equipment reliability of the Charger fleet.
  • Ensure responsiveness and support to finish the troubleshooting and repairs assigned to service requests.
  • Ensure the delivery of ongoing system operation training for the customers.
  • Identify non‑conformance issues and improvement recommendations.
  • Assist the local customer staff in assigned troubleshooting and repair works.
  • Ensure accurate communication between the customer, our Rail Support Center, and the field team when required.
  • Give feedback to the team regarding performance, quality, and efficiency issues.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors, such as Cummins, to ensure proper operation of vendor components installed on the locomotive.
  • Continually progress customers' maintenance practices to support the Charger locomotive as intended by the manual.
To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Associate’s degree in electrical technology or other technical subject areas or a minimum of 2+ years of electrical/mechanical experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting Electrical (both AC and DC circuits), Mechanical, and Pneumatic systems.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Excellently demonstrated English language technical communication skills.
  • Proven skills with all Microsoft Office (including Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint) products.
  • Ability to travel 10%
  • Setting you apart from others would be experience in rolling stock (railroad) maintenance and commissioning or other rail‑related experience as well as knowledge of Railroad Regulatory, FRA requirements, and guidelines.

The pay range for this position is $76,398.00 – $89,658.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
