Consider joining Olive-Harvey College as a Temporary Janitor. Olive-Harvey College is looking for a hardworking, dedicated janitor to perform janitorial work in and around the buildings. A successful janitor candidate will be responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, and presentation of the campus facilities on our mid shift. The successful candidate will contribute to facility maintenance, help create a positive, welcoming environment, and demonstrate strong customer service focus for students, faculty, and staff.

• Dust all ledges, counter tops, files, office equipment, desk and walls.
• Dust mop all hard surfaces.
• Spot clean or completely wash all walls, files, desk tops, office glass, partitions, doors, chairs, blackboards, mirrors, waste baskets and garbage cans, office machines and ash trays.
• Thoroughly clean all bathroom fixtures and partitions.
• Polish furniture.
• Polish metal.
• Hoist and sweep sidewalks.
• Remove trash.
• Dismantle and clean light fixtures.
• Operate vacuum cleaners.
• Clean Venetian blinds (wash & vacuum).
• Polish facility and grounds (inside & outside).
• Wash exterior walls.
• Scrape gum and other objects from hard surfaces and carpet.
• Spot clean furniture or carpet, not more than 2 hours per day.
• Set up and/or take down chairs and tables.
• Wet mop or spot mop public corridors, washrooms, classrooms and any hard surfaces.
• Operate compactors and/or balers.
• Maintain outdoor grounds (rake, cut grass, water, garbage, etc.).
• Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent preferred.
• Preference will be given to current temporary janitors at City Colleges of Chicago.
• Must be able to perform all listed duties.

Must be able to work mid-shift:
Monday–Friday 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Rate: $17.00/hour.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six months of hire.
