At McCready, we believe in supporting each other, treating our clients with compassion, and creating a respectful, collaborative environment, all while having fun. We are a close knit team that values integrity, clear communication, and a good sense of humor, especially on busy days.

  • Obtain and track medical records, bills, liens, affidavits, HIPAA authorizations, and expert documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with medical providers, insurance adjusters, outside vendors, and opposing counsel.

Court and Filing Responsibilities

  • Handle all e-filing for state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit motions, notices, and supporting documents with minimal attorney revision.

Pre-litigation & Trial Preparation

  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, demonstratives, and evidentiary materials.
  • Organize and prepare deposition materials and summaries.

Workflow Leadership & Support

  • Mentor junior legal assistants by providing guidance on drafting, case organization, and best practices.
  • Identify workflow gaps and recommend process improvements to enhance pre-litigation efficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a high level of discretion at all times.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a personal injury legal assistant or case manager.
  • Thorough understanding of PI pre-litigation responsibilities such as: opening claims, lien acknowledgments, confirmation of coverage, medical records, liens, and settlement procedures.

  • Strong working knowledge of Illinois laws is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as you'll be interacting with attorneys, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and clients.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume caseloads and strict deadlines.
