Role OverviewThis position will be based in Chicago and will report to the Head of Legal. The role is responsible for managing legal, contractual, and regulatory matters across business operations and will work closely with business leaders, procurement, sales, and cross-functional support teams.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive legal, contracting, and regulatory support to business and procurement teams.
- Lead contract structuring, drafting, review, and negotiation for commercial engagements.
- Develop, standardize, and maintain contract templates across all lines of business.
- Introduce and leverage Artificial Intelligence tools within legal operations and contract management processes.
- Manage complex contractual matters, including RFPs, tenders, and customer/vendor negotiations.
- Offer legal guidance to internal functions such as HR, Finance, IT, Administration, Corporate Services, and Real Estate.
- Conduct legal due diligence for transactions and implement risk mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Deliver training and advisory support on contracting and compliance matters to relevant teams.
- Stay current with evolving privacy and data protection regulations.
- Monitor and enforce customer contracts from a legal risk perspective.
- Assess the impact of changing statutory and regulatory requirements and advise the business accordingly.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards, applicable laws, internal policies, and regulatory obligations.
- Law degree from a reputable institution with qualification to practice in the US or UK.
- 10–15+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law.
- Prior experience in the software or technology sector, particularly product-led organizations, preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements.
- Excellent analytical, research, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business and senior leadership teams.
- Sound knowledge of applicable laws, statutes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Exposure to digital banking, open finance, or core banking transformation platforms.
- Experience working closely with product and technology teams.
- Familiarity with AI-driven financial models and platform licensing structures.
