Gould & Ratner LLP is seeking an equity Partner to join its Real Estate Practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience representing property owners, developers, lenders, and investors in their acquisitions, dispositions, sales, financings, leasing, and development of commercial real estate.
Candidates can look forward to a practice that will include handling all aspects of complex and sophisticated transactions for clients of all sizes and across industries. We are seeking an attorney who is interested in business development and being part of the Firm’s overall succession plan.
Note:
this role allows a flexible work schedule with a hybrid remote/in-office presence.
The role emphasizes representing clients in complex real estate transactions and serving as a business advisor to clients throughout their life cycle. Key responsibilities include leading, negotiating, managing, and closing complex deals; drafting material agreements and documents; and contributing to business development and the firm’s succession planning.
Qualifications- 10 or more years of experience practicing commercial real estate law. A portable book of business is required for this role.
- Strong real estate experience in a variety of transactional matters, including commercial office and retail leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, development, lending and financing. Experience handling title, survey, environmental and entity real estate diligence matters.
- Additional experience in commercial lending and banking transactions, including commercial real estate loans, asset-based loans, or other secured credit facilities is a plus.
- Experience with entitlement, zoning, and tax issues as they relate to real estate and construction transactions is preferred but not required.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills. Attention to detail, self-directed, and the ability to work efficiently on several matters at once.
- Ability to lead, negotiate, manage and close complex transactions, as well as draft material agreements and documents.
- A drive for excellence and a willingness to take initiative to solve problems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with and build relationships with the Firm’s clients; serve as a trusted business advisor.
- Candidates must be currently licensed in Colorado or Illinois or licensed in another state with a UBE score that qualifies in Illinois or Colorado for comity, be eligible to waive in, or be willing to sit for an upcoming IL/CO bar exam (open to relocation candidates that meet these requirements).
