Job Title: Worker's Compensation Defense Attorney (1 for Chicago and 1 for Indianapolis)

Location: Chicago, IL (60602)
AND Indianapolis, IN (46204)

Chicago - $90 - $120K (Associate) /$120 - $145K (Partner) + bonus and AWESOME benefits!!!

Indianapolis - $82 - $110K (Associate) /DOE (Partner) + bonus and AWESOME benefits!!!

Term: Permanent

Bachelor’s degree required: Yes and JD plus Licensed to practice in Illinois and/or Indiana

Referral Fee: AMS will pay $500 should the person you refer gets hired

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A growing defense firm with a strong reputation in litigation is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join its Crown Point or Indianapolis office. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of workers’ compensation defense experience or a strong background in medical-related issues. This position offers the opportunity for rapid professional growth, regular client contact, and a flexible hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate claims by reviewing injury circumstances, medical reports, and workplace conditions to determine liability
  • Advise employers and insurers on rights and obligations under Indiana workers’ compensation law
  • Challenge questionable claims, including issues related to pre-existing conditions, causation, or exaggerated injuries
  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and before administrative agencies and boards
  • Negotiate settlements to resolve claims in a cost-effective manner
  • Coordinate with medical experts, including independent medical examinations (IMEs) and vocational assessments
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements, workplace safety obligations, and insurer procedures

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of workers’ compensation defense experience, or a strong medical-related background
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Licensed to practice in Indiana and in good standing
  • Strong litigation, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal abilities
