TheOpportunity
The Talent Development Manager will oversee the support and development of attorneys across the Firm’s four California offices – Los Angeles (Century City and Downtown), Sacramento and San Francisco. As a key member of the Talent Development (TD) team, you will help cultivate a culture of collaboration, excellence and high performance, while guiding attorneys at every stage of their career.
The Day-To-DayIn this role, you will partner closely with Firm leadership, attorneys, and business colleagues to advance attorney performance, engagement and retention initiatives. You will:
- Advise Firm and department leadership on attorney performance, development needs, and progress on performance‑related matters
- Provide guidance to California attorneys on competencies, performance metrics, work assignments and career progression within the Firm
- Lead the onboarding experience for new attorneys and serve as a key resource to help them navigate the Firm
- Manage and facilitate the associate performance review process for the California offices
- Collaborate with internal departments to advance Firm‑wide initiatives and ensure alignment across teams
- Assist in the identification, mentoring and promotion of exceptional attorneys
- Partner with junior TD colleagues to plan and execute national projects, programs and events
- Act as a steward of the Firm’s culture and values to promote and build a culture of high performance internally and externally; involvement in external organizations to credential the Firm and the team’s growth and knowledge
- Lead or support other national Talent Development initiatives as requested by the Senior Director of TD or other members of Firm leadership
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, organizational development, or related fields
- Minimum five years of experience in professional development or talent management, ideally in a professional services environment; at least two years in a law firm and understanding of legal industry
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills; project management skills; analytical skills and coaching experience
- Business acumen, leadership presence, and the ability to take initiative and drive results
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel; knowledge of Workday and vi Desktop / vi by Aderant is a plus
- Residency in one of the Firm’s California offices required
