An AmLaw-recognized law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice in Chicago.
This role is well-suited for an associate with commercial bankruptcy experience who is interested in sophisticated restructuring matters, including both in-court and out-of-court proceedings, and working closely with partners on complex, high-stakes matters.
The RoleThe associate will represent a range of stakeholders, including debtors, official committees, acquirers, and significant creditors, in bankruptcy and restructuring matters nationwide. The work includes Chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and bankruptcy litigation involving fraudulent transfer and preference actions. The practice offers meaningful responsibility, substantive legal work, and exposure to complex financial restructurings.
Ideal Background2–5 years of commercial bankruptcy or restructuring experience
Experience with Chapter 11 proceedings and related bankruptcy litigation
Exposure to representing debtors, creditors, committees, or acquirers
Bankruptcy clerkship experience preferred
Strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills
Comfortable managing matters with increasing autonomy
Admitted in Illinois or eligible to waive in
Highly regarded Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice with national reach
Sophisticated, complex restructuring and insolvency matters
Lean, collaborative team with direct partner access
Hybrid flexibility in the Chicago office
Compensation commensurate with experience and market
