Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate

Chicago | Hybrid

An AmLaw-recognized law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice in Chicago.

This role is well-suited for an associate with commercial bankruptcy experience who is interested in sophisticated restructuring matters, including both in-court and out-of-court proceedings, and working closely with partners on complex, high-stakes matters.

The associate will represent a range of stakeholders, including debtors, official committees, acquirers, and significant creditors, in bankruptcy and restructuring matters nationwide. The work includes Chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and bankruptcy litigation involving fraudulent transfer and preference actions. The practice offers meaningful responsibility, substantive legal work, and exposure to complex financial restructurings.

• 2–5 years of commercial bankruptcy or restructuring experience

• Experience with Chapter 11 proceedings and related bankruptcy litigation

• Exposure to representing debtors, creditors, committees, or acquirers

• Bankruptcy clerkship experience preferred

• Strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills

• Comfortable managing matters with increasing autonomy

• Admitted in Illinois or eligible to waive in

• Highly regarded Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice with national reach

• Sophisticated, complex restructuring and insolvency matters

• Lean, collaborative team with direct partner access
