Overview
The Pre-Litigation Paralegal is responsible for managing a high-volume caseload from intake through settlement. This role ensures cases progress efficiently and client communication remains consistent, organized, and professional. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing deadlines, records requests, negotiations support, and file preparation with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities Client Communication & Case Management- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the pre-litigation stage.
- Conduct regular follow-up calls to ensure treatment, compliance, and case progress.
- Document all communication and updates within the case management system.
- Request and track medical records, bills, imaging, lien documents, and police reports.
- Create and update medical summaries, billing ledgers, and treatment timelines.
- Communicate with medical providers regarding liens, reductions, and balances.
- Maintain accurate digital file organization, ensuring all case data, notes, and documentation are current.
- Prepare settlement demand packages including narrative summaries, injury details, liability analysis, and supporting documents.
- Draft high-quality demand letters based on attorney guidance.
- Prepare negotiation summaries and assist attorneys during settlement discussions.
- Monitor statute deadlines and escalate when necessary.
- Track insurance adjuster communications and ensure timely follow-up.
- Upload and organize signature documents such as HIPAA forms, settlement statements, and releases.
- Assist with lien resolution and final disbursement coordination at settlement.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in personal injury law (plaintiff-side preferred).
- Strong understanding of:
Auto accidents, Premise liability, Med-pay / PIP, Medical liens & insurance workflows - Proficiency with legal case management systems (Filevine preferred), Microsoft Office, and document drafting.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or Polish) highly preferred.
- Experience with Filevine, Case Status, or similar legal tech platforms.
- Familiarity with settlement negotiation procedures and lien reductions.
