Our client, an elite, nationally acclaimed commercial litigation trial boutique seeks experienced patent litigators to join its team. The successful candidates will possess excellent academic credentials and 4-12 years of sophisticated, complex litigation experience, including significant district court patent litigation exposure, from a peer litigation practice. A scientific or technical background is preferred. This alternative billing, results-oriented firm compensates above market yet values the work/life balance of its lawyers.

Top-flight trial and litigation boutique seeking experienced patent litigators for case leadership role with significant client contact and stand-up opportunities on cases focused on patent litigation in tech, medical, and other fields

• Position pays at or above market. Candidates are eligible for discretionary bonus that has typically been at or above market.
• Candidates must have 4-12 years’ experience at a firm that is considered top band for patent litigation or a boutique with equivalent standards
• Candidates’ experience must be almost exclusively in litigation with a strong district court patent litigation component (though dedicated patent litigation practice is not required)
• Candidates must have substantial experience with major litigation and patent-lit-specific events, including preparing for Markman hearings, taking depositions and preparing witnesses for depositions, working with experts, preparing and responding to written discovery, and preparing contentions
• Experience arguing substantive motions strongly preferred but not required
• Experience being on a trial team preferred but not required
• Candidates must have a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of patent law
• Candidates must have strong writing skills and have experience briefing discovery issues, Markman, and ideally (but not required) dispositive motions
• A scientific or technical background (e.g., an undergrad degree in a hard science or engineering) is a bonus but not required – patent litigation experience is more important, and experience with technical cases and willingness to grapple with scientific concepts can substitute for a hard science background
• Candidates should have top-tier law school with excellent academic record or very top of class at a less renowned program.

The firm follows a 3/2 hybrid work week. Preferred candidates will reside in Chicago or be willing to relocate within 6 months of hire. The firm offers generous relocation packages and will consider an non-relocating attorney on a case-by-case basis
