Position: US Retail Markets Claims Apprenticeship Program-Summer 2026

Description

Join a hands‑on, milestone‑driven Claims Apprenticeship designed to prepare you for a career in casualty claims. Over 6–12 months you’ll complete a flexible, goal‑based program combining classroom training, on‑the‑job assignments, one‑on‑one mentoring, and real claim work. Successful completion prepares you to move into a Claims Resolution Specialist  role or other claims opportunities.

Program Highlights
  • Duration: 6–12 months (flexible, hybrid, based on milestone completion)

    Part‑time or full‑time options; progress is milestone‑based so participants can advance as they demonstrate competency
  • Training:
    Comprehensive classroom and practical training, job shadowing and one‑on‑one mentoring
  • Compensation:
    Competitive paid apprenticeship and eligibility for company benefits as applicable
  • Career path:
    Clear progression to Claims Specialist roles and support for licensing and development
What you’ll do (Key responsibilities)
  • Manage, investigate, and resolve assigned claims within established authority levels, including but not limited to Auto Accidents
  • Gather information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third parties (appraisers, medical providers, repair shops) to evaluate coverage, liability, and damages
  • Review medical records, police reports, and other documentation to assess claim severity and determine appropriate reserves
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys; arrange expert inspections and coordinate ancillary resources as needed
  • Identify suspicious claims and refer to Special Investigations Unit (SIU); identify third‑party subrogation opportunities
  • Maintain accurate and timely claim files, status reports, and documentation in claims systems
  • Sends and responds to various written, telephone and SMS text inquiries to pursue resolution of the claim
Training & Support
  • Licensing training (state adjuster licensing requirement assistance where applicable)
  • Structured curriculum combining technical skills (coverage analysis, state tort basics, reserving, evaluation, negotiation) and soft skills (communication, empathy, customer service)
  • One‑on‑one mentoring from experienced claims professionals and regular milestone assessments with trainer and coach support
  • Hands‑on scenario‑based exercises and exposure to leadership and cross‑functional teams
  • Continuous learning journey provided for enhancing casualty skills

How the milestone‑based progression works
  • You’ll advance by completing a sequence of competency milestones: knowledge assessments, demonstrated task performance, quality reviews rather than strict calendar time
  • Typical milestones include coverage & liability evaluations, reserves setting, independent file management, negotiation simulations, and compliance/ethics checkpoints
  • The program is flexible: apprentices who demonstrate competency early can complete the program in ~6 months; others may take up to 12 months to meet all milestones

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required (no bachelor’s degree required)
  • 0–2 years of professional experience; customer service, legal, medical, or investigative experience a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information clearly, concisely, and professionally with appropriate empathy
  • Solid analytical, investigative, negotiation, and time‑management skills
  • Detail‑oriented and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment
  • Demonstrates change resiliency and a growth mindset by adapting quickly to shifting claim priorities, seeking feedback, and proactively pursuing learning opportunities to improve processes and outcomes
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States and ability to obtain required state licensing where applicable
  • Comfortable using standard office software and learning claims management systems
