We are seeking an Energy Associate Underwriter to support our energy underwriting team. This role is designed as a developmental underwriting position, supporting the analysis, underwriting, and management of complex energy risks while building a strong technical foundation and progressing toward full underwriting authority.
Responsibilities- Support the underwriting of energy risks, including upstream, midstream, downstream, power generation, and renewable energy accounts.
- Set up electronic files and enter preliminary data into the underwriting systems with high accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of quotes, binders, and formal policy documents.
- Process routine mid-term policy changes and endorsements that do not require complex risk reassessment.
- Assist in structuring terms, conditions, and pricing in accordance with underwriting guidelines and portfolio strategy.
- Support broker and client relationships through timely communication and coordination of underwriting information.
- Participate in broker meetings, client calls, and site visits alongside senior underwriters as appropriate.
- Assist in monitoring portfolio performance, loss trends, and accumulation exposures.
- Ensure underwriting documentation, files, and systems are accurate and compliant with governance standards.
- Work collaboratively with claims, accounting, engineering, legal, and operations teams.
- Participate in underwriting training programs and professional development initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in underwriting, insurance, reinsurance, risk analysis, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Exposure to energy, power, infrastructure, or industrial risks preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate quantitative and qualitative risk factors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and underwriting or analytical tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to develop technical underwriting expertise.
- Base salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
