Senior Underwriter – Commercial Casualty – Global P&C Insurance Carrier (Chicago, IL)

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its growing Commercial Casualty team, with a focus on large and complex casualty risks. This is a high-impact, hybrid role based in Chicago, offering exposure to national accounts and an opportunity to contribute to the expansion of a high-performing portfolio. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of commercial casualty underwriting experience and a proven ability to assess risk, build broker relationships, and drive underwriting profitability.

What You’ll Do:

• Underwrite new and renewal business for large casualty accounts with a focus on general liability, umbrella, and excess coverages
• Perform in-depth risk analysis and pricing assessments aligned with underwriting guidelines and company appetite
• Manage and grow a profitable book of business while maintaining underwriting discipline and technical accuracy
• Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to drive submission flow and enhance market presence
• Partner cross-functionally with claims, actuarial, and risk control teams to deliver tailored solutions to complex risks
• Represent the company at client meetings, broker events, and industry conferences to strengthen brand visibility and broker engagement
• Stay current on market trends, competitive positioning, and regulatory developments impacting casualty underwriting

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, ideally with a focus on large, complex risks
• Deep technical knowledge of casualty coverages, policy structures, and pricing methodologies
• Proven ability to manage broker relationships and drive profitable growth across multiple distribution channels
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred
