Experienced Casualty Underwriter

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Casualty Underwriter to join our Central Region Casualty Team based out of our Chicago office location.

• Develop and grow the Casualty book of business which includes primary general liability, umbrella, and excess liability for various classes (e.g. General Casualty, Energy, Transportation, and Products)
• Maintain a profitable renewal book
• Lead customer meetings for new and renewal business
• Establish, develop, and expand retail broker and customer relationships in the Central Region
• Work closely with loss control, actuary, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity

• 3-5+ years of casualty underwriting experience (min 3 years)
• 3-5+ years of experience with customer meetings (min 3 years)
• Existing Marsh, WTW, Aon & Lockton relationships a plus
• Technical underwriting skill set
• Willingness to travel 3-4 times per quarter
• Ability to work within a fast paced, customer focused, team environment
• Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation and presentation experience

The base salary range for this position in Chicago is $90,000 - $140,000 along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
