Sr. Claims Specialist

Overview

Sr. Claims Specialist role at Berkley Environmental (a Berkley Company).

Location:

Chicago, IL. This position involves reviewing, processing, investigating, evaluating, negotiating and settling assigned property damage or bodily injury claims with authority generally up to $150,000, with knowledge of litigation management in multiple jurisdictions.

• Complete coverage analysis
• Conduct the necessary investigation, by phone or through independent adjusters, to determine coverage, liability and damages
• Evaluate, negotiate, and settle assigned property damage or severe GL and/or complex bodily injury claims within authority granted, or seek authority for claims exceeding authority
• Resolve coverage disputes with insureds and agents
• Prepare coverage opinion letters

• Bachelor s Degree preferred
• Must have at least 10+ years of relevant industry GL claim handling experience
• Multi-state experience required
• Litigation experience required
• Ability to work independently while assimilating various technical subjects
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• License Requirements:
  Per State or Jurisdictional requirements
• Some travel required for mediations, settlement conferences, etc.

• Base Salary Range: $86,000 – $160,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
