Talent Fish is casting a line for a Director of Clinical Cybersecurity to join a healthcare-focused organization in the Chicago area. This leadership role will serve as the key security partner to clinical operations, helping ensure that cybersecurity practices are embedded into healthcare delivery environments while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

This position plays an important role in bridging the gap between information security and clinical operations
, helping healthcare teams understand, adopt, and maintain strong security practices that protect sensitive patient information and critical clinical systems.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in healthcare security, regulatory compliance, and risk management
, along with the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly to non-technical healthcare professionals.

• Serve as the primary cybersecurity advisor to clinical leadership, care teams, and healthcare operations

• Translate cybersecurity requirements into practical and operationally workable clinical practices
  .
• Partner with clinical stakeholders to integrate security into everyday healthcare workflows.

• Ensure alignment with HIPAA and other healthcare regulatory requirements
  .
• Support clinical departments in maintaining compliance with security and privacy standards.
• Conduct risk assessments related to clinical systems, patient data, and healthcare applications
  .

• Lead security awareness initiatives tailored to clinical and healthcare environments.
• Develop training programs that help staff understand the importance of protecting patient data and healthcare systems
  .
• Promote a culture of security-first thinking across clinical teams.
• Coordinate clinical incident response efforts
  , including security events affecting healthcare systems.
• Lead or support tabletop exercises and security readiness planning
  .
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and IT teams to mitigate security risks within clinical operations.

• Help embed security controls and best practices into clinical technology and workflows.
• Support broader enterprise cybersecurity initiatives while ensuring alignment with healthcare operational needs.

• Experience working in healthcare or clinical environments
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare regulatory frameworks
• 5–7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or governance, risk, and compliance (GRC)
• Ability to communicate security risks and controls clearly to clinical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience supporting incident response and security risk mitigation

• Experience serving as a security liaison or advisor to business units
• Familiarity with clinical systems, healthcare applications, or healthcare IT environments
• Experience conducting security awareness programs within regulated environments

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 – $140,000 annually
, depending on experience and qualifications.
