Overview

We are hiring a Data Center Technician II to support day-to-day operations in a high-availability data center environment. This role focuses on hands-on hardware support, system monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate has solid experience working with servers, cabling, and troubleshooting physical and logical issues within a data center.
This is a technical, execution-focused role requiring attention to detail, comfort following documented procedures, and the ability to quickly resolve hardware-related problems.

What You'll Be Doing

• Monitor data center systems and equipment to identify faults, performance degradation, or operational issues
• Install, configure, and remove hardware components including servers, drives, network devices, and related equipment
• Perform rack-and-stack activities, structured cabling, labeling, grounding, and equipment staging
• Execute system startups, shutdowns, and maintenance tasks using established runbooks, checklists, and technical documentation
• Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware failures, isolate root causes, and replace defective components
• Support hardware refreshes and basic changes such as memory upgrades or rebuilds
• Respond to system alerts or error messages and take corrective action when required
• Assist engineering and technical teams with testing and validation of new systems or deployments
• Maintain accurate documentation and update tickets or reports using standard tools
• Escalate incidents and unresolved issues according to defined operational procedures

Required Experience

• 3+ years of experience working in a data center or critical infrastructure environment
• Proven hands-on experience with break/fix support, deployments, and hardware troubleshooting
• 2-4 years of experience supporting servers, computer hardware, and internal components
• Strong experience in cabling, racking, and physical infrastructure support
• Experience working with ticketing systems and following operational processes

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
