About the Role
We are seeking a Field Service Technician/Engineer who will play a critical role in supporting SCIENION and Cellenion systems across North America. This position provides the opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge microarray, biosensor, microneedling, and single-cell dispensing technologies. You will serve as a trusted technical expert for customers, ensuring successful installations, training, troubleshooting, and ongoing system performance.
This role requires regular travel and offers the chance to interact with global colleagues and customers while contributing to impactful scientific and manufacturing advancements.
What You Will Do- Develop expert-level knowledge of SCIENION instrumentation, software, and applications.
- Perform on-site installations, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), Installation Qualification, and root-cause analysis.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for customer inquiries.
- Document service activities, helpdesk tickets, customer issues, and follow-up actions.
- Deliver basic instrument training within one year of hire.
- Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot or escalate issues.
- Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory.
- Submit monthly expense reports.
- Represent SCIENION professionally with customers.
- Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and property.
- Report recurring technical issues to Product Management and R&D.
- Travel up to 80% overnight as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems, multiplex assays, or electromechanical/optical systems.
- Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, wrenches, soldering irons, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong organizational and computer skills (Windows; LabVIEW is a plus).
- Commitment to safety, environmental, and quality policies.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in lab/cleanroom environments.
- Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics, engineering, biosciences, or related field (or equivalent technical training).
- 3+ years of field service or in-house service experience.
- Experience in biotech, diagnostics, medical device, or laboratory instrumentation industries.
- Strong documentation and problem‑solving abilities.
- Full-time role based remotely. Preferred location Midwest (IL, IN, OH, MI, KY) or East Coast (MA, CT, RI, NY, PA, MD, VA, DC, NC) near major airport
- Up to 80% domestic and some international travel required.
