Senior Consultant at The William Everett Group

Description

Role Description

William Everett is seeking a Business Analyst with strong financial systems experience, particularly experience with general ledger, billing, accounts payable/receivables—preferably within Elite 3E—to support requirements definition, process analysis, data validation, and solution documentation for a major legal-finance transformation initiative. This role focuses on gathering business needs, writing of standard operating procedures, translating them into actionable functional requirements, supporting configuration and testing cycles, and ensuring alignment between finance, IT, and technical implementation teams.

The BA will partner closely with senior finance leaders, system architects, and project managers to ensure that business processes, reporting needs, and data workflows are clearly understood and accurately designed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with finance, billing, operations, and IT stakeholders.
  • Document business requirements, process flows, functional specifications, and reporting needs.
  • Assess out-of-the-box vs. custom solution requirements and support decision-making.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis on system, data, and workflow issues.
Process Optimization & Documentation
  • Map current-state and future-state business processes across billing, matter lifecycle, timekeeping, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements aligned with legal-finance best practices.
  • Support development of migration strategies, including data mapping and functional workstream planning.
Data & Reporting Support
  • Assist with validation of data structures, reporting logic, financial workflows, and integration requirements.
  • Help define reporting templates, financial metrics, and operational dashboards.
Project & Stakeholder Support
  • Support discovery workshops and ensure cross-functional alignment on priorities and decisions.
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure solutions meet documented requirements and process needs.
  • Prepare materials for executive stakeholders, including findings, options, and recommendations.
  • Assist in planning user adoption activities, communications, and readiness tasks.
Testing & Deployment
  • Support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect resolution.
  • Participate in deployment planning and post-launch stabilization to ensure successful adoption.
Requirements Core Skill Requirements
  • 5+ years as a Business Analyst or Financial Systems Analyst (law firm or professional services preferred).
  • Hands-on exposure to Elite 3E (finance, billing, AP/AR or reporting modules strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of legal-finance processes and the matter lifecycle.
  • Ability to simplify complex system and data concepts for non-technical users.
  • Experience supporting ERP or financial system implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
  • Excellent facilitation, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-department stakeholders (Finance, AP/AR, Billing, IT, Operations).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accountability.
Additional requirements:
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer
  • Local in the Chicagoland area
  • Performance Bonus Eligible
  • 401(k) plan
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Paid time off options, including vacation, sick time, fixed holidays, parental leave.
