Company: Westberke Consulting

Position Summary

Westberke Consulting is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize modern data platforms and business intelligence solutions. In this role, you won't just be moving data; you’ll be a strategic partner to our Data Architects and client stakeholders, transforming complex data challenges into scalable, high-performing analytics environments.

The ideal candidate is a Microsoft Azure expert who balances deep technical mastery with a pragmatic, consultant’s mindset. You should be comfortable architecting a complex ETL pipeline as you are explaining a dimensional model to a business stakeholder.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Delivery: Lead all phases of the data lifecycle—from initial requirements gathering and architecture design to deployment and production support.
  • Azure Orchestration: Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, and Data Lake Storage.
  • Data Modeling: Build and maintain robust dimensional models (Star/Snowflake schemas) optimized for enterprise-grade BI workloads.
  • Performance Engineering: Develop and fine-tune T-SQL code, stored procedures, and views to ensure lightning-fast query performance.
  • BI Enablement: Design and publish sophisticated Power BI semantic models
, implementing best practices for DAX, M Query, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
  • Client

    Collaboration:

Act as a technical bridge, translating vague business requirements into concrete, actionable technical solutions.
  • Governance & Dev Ops: Advocate for data quality and governance while contributing to CI/CD processes within an Agile/SCRUM framework.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Azure Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade analytics solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
  • SQL Mastery: Advanced proficiency in T-SQL development, query tuning, and performance optimization.
  • The Power BI Stack: 3+ years of experience with Power BI semantic models, dataflows, and complex DAX implementation.
  • Modern Data Warehousing: A foundational understanding of dimensional modeling and scalable ELT/ETL patterns.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lakehouse Architectures:

    Experience with
Azure Databricks or modern Delta Lake patterns.
  • Dev Ops: Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops, Git, and automated release pipelines.
  • Consulting DNA: Prior experience in a client-facing or consulting environment is a significant plus.
