IT Infrastructure Solutions Architect

The Planet Group has partnered with a Chicago based company to locate a Infrastructure Solutions Architect to help lead the integration and modernization of technology platforms from newly acquired organizations. This is a highly impactful role focused on evaluating complex environments and designing scalable integration solutions across cloud and hybrid systems.

This is a contract-to-hire role and candidates must be willing to travel from time to time. No 3P candidates!

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate application stacks, infrastructure, and cloud environments to determine integration complexity and strategy
• Design and implement integration solutions across AWS, Azure, and hybrid/on-prem environments
• Develop migration strategies for legacy systems, including modernization, consolidation, or retirement
• Integrate identity systems using Active Directory, Azure AD, and enterprise access controls
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and architecture teams to onboard and stabilize newly acquired systems
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, authentication, and integration issues across distributed environments
• Implement automation and CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment reliability and operational efficiency
• Document architecture, integration plans, and system environments to support long-term maintainability
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to enterprise architecture standards and best practices

Required Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Integration
• Strong experience with AWS and Azure cloud environments
• Experience working with hybrid infrastructure and legacy system integration
• Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, and identity management
• Strong scripting experience using Power Shell, Python, or Bash
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
• Strong troubleshooting, architecture, and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale technology integrations is highly preferred
