Product Architect I (Insurance Forms & Product Configuration)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2 days onsite preferred)
Compensation: $35–$50/hr (W2) (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k)
Duration:12 Month w/ extensions
We are seeking a Product Architect I to support insurance product and forms work during a large?scale policy administration modernization effort. This role is responsible for ensuring insurance policy forms are accurately migrated from a legacy system into a modern policy administration platform while maintaining contractual and regulatory integrity.
This position sits within an IT organization and works closely with product managers, developers, testers, and configuration teams. The focus is on insurance forms, product requirements, and accuracy
, not software development.
- Support product managers by managing and inventorying insurance policy forms
- Transform approved product contract language into standardized forms
- Perform detailed side?by?side comparisons of legacy and new forms to ensure accuracy
- Capture and maintain form metadata to ensure correct system behavior
- Collect business requirements and translate them into clear inputs for developers and configuration teams
- Support product configuration maintenance, including table updates, product publishing, and product specification documentation
- Prepare, test, and deploy routine product changes
- Analyze state filing approval documentation to determine impacts to existing products and forms
- Assist with major product initiatives such as General Liability and Property rollouts
- Generate and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly production reports
- Provide user support and basic training for product and form management tools
- Collaborate across underwriting, legal, regulatory, IT, and product teams
- Smart Comm (Smart Communications) – document generation (preferred)
- Guidewire Policy Center – policy administration (nice to have, not required)
- Jira and Share Point
- Microsoft Office / O365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Typically 0–2 years of related experience
- Experience in the commercial insurance space
- Strong understanding of insurance products and policy documentation
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially in document review and comparison
- Ability to analyze and interpret insurance policies, forms, and regulatory materials
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a high?volume, deadline?driven environment
- Experience working with insurance forms or policy documentation
- Commercial underwriting or regulatory compliance experience
- Exposure to Guidewire Policy Center
- Experience with Smart Comm or similar document generation tools
- Hybrid role with 2 days onsite in Chicago preferred
