Senior Data Platform Builder (Databricks | AWS)
Location Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Downtown office
Compensation Up to $200,000 base + discretionary bonus

A Databricks proof-of-concept is already live.
The next step is turning it into a production-grade lakehouse that will power analytics, AI, and decision-making across the business.
This role exists for one senior, hands-on builder to own that foundation end-to-end.
What you’ll be responsible for- Designing and building a production Databricks lakehouse on AWS
- Taking the platform from POC → MVP → enterprise scale
- Making core architectural decisions around ingestion, storage, performance, and cost
- Writing and reviewing production code (Spark / Python)
- Partnering with Dev Ops and senior stakeholders to deploy and scale cleanly
- Establishing patterns and standards through working systems

This is a senior individual contributor role — not people management.
Who this role is forYou’ve likely:
- Built a modern data platform end-to-end
- Worked hands-on with Databricks, Spark, and AWS
- Operated in lean or greenfield environments
- Owned systems in production and lived with the consequences
Titles vary —
Senior Data Engineer, Principal Engineer, Data Architect — the work matters more than the label.
- A BI or dashboard-only role
- A pure governance or review-board position
- A people-management role
