- $140,000 to $155,000.
- Chicago-based hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Position summaryThe Senior Network Engineer is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a global Cisco network environment. This role owns complex networking work across routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, load balancing, monitoring, and carrier circuits. The engineer partners closely with infrastructure, security, and third-party vendors to deliver reliable service and execute projects with strong documentation and change control.
Key responsibilities- Design, implement, and support advanced enterprise networking across global sites.
- Configure and support Cisco routers, switches, Nexus platforms, and Cisco wireless infrastructure.
- Support SD-WAN and related routing, policies, and site connectivity (including Meraki SD-WAN).
- Operate and improve network monitoring and performance using tooling such as Cisco DNA, Thousand Eyes, and Solar Winds.
- Support and maintain load balancing infrastructure (F5), including troubleshooting and change implementation.
- Manage connectivity including internet, MPLS, point-to-point circuits, and cloud connectivity; coordinate implementations and escalations with telecom providers.
- Lead complex projects including new services, feature rollouts, office moves/build-outs, and hardware refresh cycles.
- Perform packet analysis and advanced troubleshooting using monitoring/capture tools to isolate and resolve escalations.
- Collaborate with IT Security on firewall-related needs and ensure alignment with security standards.
- Drive proactive capacity planning and performance improvements; present documented proposals and recommendations to leadership.
- Maintain accurate documentation, standards, and adherence to IT processes/controls to support high availability and business continuity.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives, including non-network infrastructure projects as needed.
- 8+ years of enterprise networking experience with Cisco LAN/WAN environments.
- Advanced design and troubleshooting experience across complex network topologies.
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and core routing/switching concepts, including:
- L2/L3, LAN/WAN, wireless, network virtualization, WAN acceleration
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, Nexus, and Meraki SD-WAN.
- Strong experience supporting Cisco wireless in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with firewall/VPN infrastructure and working with security partners.
- Experience coordinating carrier circuits and managing telecom vendors/providers.
- Exposure to cloud services and connectivity (Azure and AWS).
- CCNA/CCNP or equivalent practical expertise.
- Network automation experience (Ansible and/or Python).
- F5 LTM/GTM experience.
- Cisco ISE and/or Infoblox DHCP/DNS experience.
- Packet broker / deep packet analysis tooling experience (plus Wireshark).
- Familiarity with next-gen network/security approaches (examples: ZTNA, SASE, DLP) in an enterprise context.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration.
