Business Analyst — Data Operations (Consultant)Rate: $65–$80/hr
Location: Remote (CST/EST preferred)
Contract: 12 months
Industry: Must come out of capital markets/investments or consulting to be considered.
About the RoleWe’re seeking an experienced Business Analyst—Data Operations to support Data Warehouse (DWH) stability, incident management, and cross‑functional data issue resolution. This consultant will play a key role in triaging data problems, coordinating between technical and business teams, and strengthening operational processes—particularly within investment reporting and middle‑office functions.
The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and comfortable stepping into fast‑moving environments with minimal ramp‑up time.
What You’ll Do- Collaborate with DWH engineers and business teams to improve data reliability, manage story intake, and support end‑to‑end issue resolution.
- Triage and track inbound data issues using Jira, ensuring accurate categorization, prioritization, and follow‑through.
- Gather and refine business requirements
, translating them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and documentation. - Partner with technology, operations, risk, and compliance teams to coordinate
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, or similar role supporting data‑centric projects.
- Strong ability to diagnose data issues across source systems and the data warehouse
, translating between business and technical perspectives. - Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts
, including ETL, data modeling, data quality, and source‑to‑target mapping. - Experience supporting investment or middle‑office operations within asset management or financial services (strong plus).
- SQL proficiency for basic querying and validation; familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly. - Hands‑on experience with Jira, Confluence
, and preferably Service Now or similar ITSM platforms. - Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and comfortable supporting data governance and operational controls
