Scrum Master
Local to Chicago – 2 days onsite
Experience:
5+ years
Will be leading one Agile team. We look for someone who is eager, energetic, coachable, and can improve the vibes of an already solid team.
Responsibilities- Facilitate the adoption and consistent use of Scrum and Agile practices within one or more delivery teams
- Coach teams on Agile principles, ceremonies, roles, and best practices to improve delivery, quality, and collaboration
- Support teams in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring ceremonies are effective and outcome‑focused
- Partner with Product Owners to refine backlog items, clarify requirements, and define acceptance criteria to ensure business value is delivered
- Identify and help remove team impediments, escalating risks and dependencies as needed
- Promote continuous improvement by helping teams inspect and adapt their processes and ways of working
- Track and report on team‑level metrics (e.g., velocity, predictability, delivery health) to support transparency and data‑driven discussions
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters, delivery leads, and stakeholders to support cross‑team alignment and dependency management
- Support teams in documenting working agreements, playbooks, and best practices
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with business and IT partners to foster trust and effective communication
- Assist with preparing status updates, summaries, and materials for leadership or stakeholder meetings as needed
- Solid understanding of Scrum practices and Agile methodologies; exposure to scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe) is a plus
- Hands‑on experience supporting Agile teams in a delivery‑focused environment
- Proficiency with Jira for backlog management, sprint tracking, and basic dashboards; experience with Confluence for documentation and collaboration
- Ability to translate requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria in partnership with Product Owners and teams
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions
- Comfortable coaching teams while also learning and growing as an Agile practitioner
- Able to manage conflict constructively and foster consensus within teams
- Organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Willingness to learn the technical and business context of the teams being supported
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing development of Agile and Scrum skills
